How to Vote By Mail in PA
Pennsylvania voters have the option to Vote by Mail, without the excuse that used to be needed for a traditional absentee ballot.
If you have a PA Drivers License or a state-issued Photo ID, you can apply right online.
If you’d prefer, you can download and print a paper application here.
To make this process even easier for you, we have included below a step-by-step guide to apply for your Mail-in Ballot today.
Step 2: Answer Three Questions
You will be asked three questions:
- Are you a military or civilian overseas voter?
- Will you be absent from your home on Election Day?
- Do you have a physical illness or disability?
If you click yes to any of these questions, you will be directed to apply for a traditional absentee ballot. In order to apply for the new Mail-in Ballot, you must select “No” for all three questions, as demonstrated below.
Step 3: Complete the Application
If you answer No to the three previous questions, you will be directed to complete the application, which will ask for your name, date of birth, Drivers License or Photo ID number, address, and the address to which you’d like the ballot sent.
Step 4: Annual Mail-in Ballot Request
After completing the application, you will be asked if you would like to receive an Annual Mail-in Ballot application.
By clicking yes, as demonstrated below, you will automatically be mailed an application for every election. Please note that this does not mean you will receive an actual ballot every election automatically, just the application to request one.
When will I receive my ballot?
Do not be alarmed if you do not receive your ballot immediately. It can take some time for the Bucks County Board of Elections to process and mail your individual ballot.
You are able to track the status of your application through the Department of State website here, or you can always call Board of Elections at 215-348-6154 with specific questions.
When is my application due?
Your completed application will always be due the Tuesday before the Election. In the case of this year’s General Election, that will be Tuesday, October 29.
When is my completed ballot due?
Once you receive your ballot from the Board of Elections, you can either personally hand-deliver it, or mail it back to the address below where it must be received no later than 8:00 PM on Election Day.
